DON'T BE COMPLACENT

Amos 6:1 Woe to you who are complacent in Zion, and to you who feel secure on Mount Samaria, you notable men of the foremost nation, to whom the people of Israel come! (NIV)

The Lord addressing this particular people of Israel said woe to them because they were complacent. Disaster had befallen Israel yet there were some of them who were very complacent and careless.

They gave themselves to and continued in revelry. And did not concern themselves with the plight of Israel nor grieve over her.
Amos 6:6-7 You drink wine by the bowlful and use the finest lotions, but you do not grieve over the ruin of Joseph. Therefore you will be among the first to go into exile; your feasting and lounging will end.

The Lord decreed that they would go into exile as punishment for their complacency. How many of us do the same today! When things go wrong in the church we feel unconcerned, and other times we criticize those we felt were responsible. God says don't be complacent in Zion. Don't feel unconcerned and comfortable when things aren't going well in your local church. There is something you can do.

One of the reasons our society is in chaos is because we feel unconcerned about its plight because it didn't affect us or our families. When we see public properties being vandalized we don't care. When we see evil happening in our nation we don't care so long as it doesn't come near us. God says don't be complacent. He has given us the responsibility to pray for our nation and wherever we find ourselves.

Jeremiah 29:7 Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper."

Deliberately give yourself to praying for the church and your nation. Don't feel unconcerned, complacent and careless because if you do what happens to others will certainly get to you.
The Bible says "...Woe to you who are complacent in Zion, and to you who feel secure on Mount Samaria." Don't be this way!

PRAYER

I shall not be complacent and unconcerned about the plight of my nation and society, or the church and the work of the Kingdom, but shall be fully committed to the peace, prosperity, success and victory of the places I find myself and the church of Jesus Christ. I shall yield my all to promote the cause of the Kingdom, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
