But James uses the analogy of the farmer to show us that spiritual patience is highly active. The farmer does not sit idle; he prepares the soil, sows the seed, and guards the crop. Yet, he must wait. He cannot force the harvest. He must wait for the "early and latter rains"—the weather patterns he cannot control, only trust. (Acts 11:13–14)NIV Beloved, notice what the angel told Cornelius: Peter would come and speak words—and through those words, salvation would come to him and his entire household. This is a powerful revelation. God could not save Cornelius through a vision or a dream or even by Angel, He had to send a man with a message. Why? Because faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17). Salvation is transmitted through words. Cornelius was already a devout man—he prayed continually and gave generously.
