IN THE FATHER'S NAME

John 5:43 I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him. (NIV)

The Lord Jesus said He came in the Father's Name. But what exactly does that mean? It means He came to live in His Father's stead. He was the representation of the Father; He was to the world and to man who the Father is to them -- God, creator and savior. He said what the Father would say and did what the Father would do. When He is present you don't ask for the Father; He was the exact representation of the Father.

The works He did was in the Father's Name. A name actually means all that one is. So Jesus came in the Father's Name, representing all that the Father is. And did works only the Father could do. 
John 10:25 Jesus answered, "I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me,

Talking to the Father in John 17:11 He said "the name You gave me." John 17:11 I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one.
The Father gave Him His own Name to live in, live by and live for. While on earth He was conscious that He was not living for Himself but for the One who sent Him; for He came in His Name.

When the Lord was done with the Father's work and was about to leave this world. He sent us as the Father had sent Him. He sent us, this time, in His own Name.
John 20:21 Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you."

He sent us in His Name. We are to do the works He Himself did; preaching the Good news of the Kingdom, healing the sick, setting the oppressed free, cleansing the lepers, casting out devils and raising the dead.
In Mark 16:17-18 the Master told us what to do in His Name. He said "And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

Now we come in His Name; representing all that He is -- His Person, personality and power. We have received power, authority and dominion in His Name to carry on the same work He did and much more, and to keep at it while we wait for His return for the Church. Make it personal; whether at work, school, business or home, to do things in His Name, representing all that He is. Hallelujah! 

CONFESSION

As the Father has sent You Lord Jesus so have you sent me. The works that you did I am doing and even greater works because you have gone to the Father. In your Name I preach the Gospel, cast out devils, heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead and bless my world. Amen!
