TAKE A STEP TO GREATNESS Chapter 1

EPISODE 1

Chapter  ONE

DISCOVERING YOURSELF

Taking a bold step is extremely important in someone’s life. Until you take a step you can’t move forward in life.
No matter how low you think you are what you need is a step forward. As the saying goes; “a journey of a thousand miles begins with a step.” A moving Train is better than a stagnant Airplane, though it is slow but will surely reach its destination.

God wants you to progress, move forward with that life purpose and assignment which He has designed for your life. He wants to use you and the circumstances in your life to claim glory for Himself. You need to stop seeing your weaknesses and troubles, and start planning to take a step forward. God wanted to claim glory in the life of the Israelites at the red sea, so He urged them to move on (take a step) and stop crying. God actually expects you to move on (take a step) from where you are right now. You should stop crying over your predicament rather rely on God and take a bold step.

Do you want to take a step to Greatness? To which direction?  For you to know your direction in life you really have to discover yourself first. Who are you? What ability do you have?  Do you know your God given life-purpose? Until you discover who you are, your ability and purpose. You will always take wrong steps in life.

The following are some of the ways you can discover yourself:-

1. TO LIVE FOR HIS GLORY:

To discover yourself you must live for His glory. God Almighty created you for His glory; to bring praise, worship, honor and thanks to Him. He created you so that He can have pleasure and joy in your life.  If the step you want to take will not fulfill God’s desire or will, then it’s a wrong step.  If your dream, desire, plan, skill will not give glory to God, then forget about it.

Isaiah 43:7 says; everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.

Everyone who is called by His name has been created for His glory.  What name do you bear? Do you bear the name “son”? For as many that believe in him, He gave them the right to be called, the children of God. Are you a child of God? Are you set apart for a particular purpose or mission?
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you Apart, I appointed you as a prophet to the nations. Jeremiah 1:5

God set Jeremiah apart from his mother’s womb to serve a particular purpose when he came to earth, to be a prophet to the nations, to bring glory to God. He called him to be a prophet from birth and he served that purpose. God also has a name for you, even before you were born. Have you discovered it? You need to live for that purpose.
1 Samuel 2:30……… for those who honor me I will honor …… God wants your honor. If your step in life does not honor God, that’s simply a wrong step. So watch your steps and decision closely for they are supposed to give glory to God.

2.  HUMILITY:

Humility is having a humble character. It is living without ego in our daily affairs. Humility is one of those ways that you can discover your God given life assignment. God wants to exalt you to where you are meant to be; where He created you to be. You have to humble yourself so He can exalt you. Humility is being selfless and a reliance on God. When God sees your reverence like that of Hannah He will not fail to exalt your horn.

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled and he who humbles himself will be exalted. Luke 14:11

The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches, honor and life.  Proverb 22:4

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you.  1Peter 5:6

From Philippians 2:3-11 the Bible teaches us about the perfect humility of Jesus Christ.

Verse 6 who, being in very nature God did not consider equality with God something to be grasped verse 7 but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

What an act of humility! He completely humbled Himself before God, despising the shame and pain, made Himself lower to the level of men and obeyed God even onto death, even death on the cross. God actually lifted Him to where He wanted Him to be; therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name.

God wants to exalt you to the highest place he made for you. All He demands of you is your humility.

Verses 3-4 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than you. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
