THE PRESENT GLORY
Haggai 2:9 ’The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,’ says the LORD Almighty. ’And in this place I will grant peace,’ declares the LORD Almighty." (NIV)
When the Israelites who returned from exile began to rebuild the temple of God in Jerusalem which had been destroyed by the Babylonians, the word came by Prophet Haggai, in Haggai 2:3, he said ’Who of you is left who saw this house in its former glory? How does it look to you now? Does it not seem to you like nothing?"
Then he prophesied, ’The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,’ says the LORD Almighty. ’And in this place I will grant peace,’ declares the LORD Almighty." - Haggai 2:9.
First, this prophecy was concerning the temple they were rebuilding at the time. Secondly, for the church that was to come. The glory of our present day church is greater than the glory the people of God at any time before the church age experienced. The church carries God's highest glory.
The ministry of Moses had glory but it was nothing compared to the glory of the present church.
2 Corinthians 3:9 If the ministry that brought condemnation was glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness!
The ministry of Moses, which was the ministry of the law brought condemnation but the ministry the church has received brings righteousness. And it is a glorious ministry.
The church as the body of Christ house God and all His eternal glory. In every individual member of the body of Christ dwells God's eternal glory. Christ lives in you and Christ is the glory of God.
Colossians 1:27 to whom God was pleased to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
Christ in you is not only the hope of glory, that is, glorification (being transformed at the rapture), but also your present glory. The present glory of the church is God's glory extends in all it fullness; live in it.
CONFESSION
In the Church of Jesus Christ that I am a member of dwells God's eternal glory. Christ in me is not only my hope of glory but also my present glory. I have a glorious ministry of righteousness and I am fulfilling it by the help of the Spirit. Amen.
