BE CONTENT WITH YOUR PLACE
Luke 2:36-37 There was also a prophet, Anna, the daughter of Penuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, and then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying. (NIV)
The success of our ministry in the sight of God is not measured by how much we travel, how many people we reach, how much we accomplish, the buildings and properties we acquire, no! Our success in life and ministry is measured by how well we stay in His will and place, and how well we perform in the place He's given us whether big or small in the sight of men.
The Prophet, Anna, whom we just read about in our opening scripture spent the most of her years in the temple worshipping, fasting and praying. The Bible says "She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying."
Doing that alone was how she fulfilled her God-given ministry. She didn't travel to places, she didn't organize a crusade, she didn't have her own church building for her ministry, she didn't have congratulation. All God required of her was to worship, fast and pray for the nation of Israel and the Savior that was to come, that's, Jesus. Think about that for a moment!
Find your God-given place and ministry and be content with it whether or not it is big in your sight or in the sight of people. Until you are content with your place and how much God is doing through you, you won't really enjoy your days on earth nor what He does through you.
You might have desire to do big things in the place God has given you. That desire might be pushing you. But first apply knowledge to your desire. Does it line up with the knowledge of His will concerning you?
Proverbs 19:2 Desire without knowledge is not good — how much more will hasty feet miss the way!
You might miss your way of destiny and calling in life if you do not apply knowledge to your good desire. Good desire becomes unhealthy desire when it is outside God's will for you. Even though it is good, doing it could be bad for you. So be content with your place and the seemingly little things you do for God.
PRAYER
Dear Father I thank You for the place and ministry you have given me. I give attention to it, to magnify and fulfill it. I am content with my place in the work of the Kingdom and my seemingly little contribution to the whole, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
