SUBSTANCE OF THANKS

Proverbs 3:9-10 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine. (KJV)

When we thank God for what He has done for us we honour Him. Thanking Him is honouring Him. And the Bible says honour the Lord with thy substance. Substance of thanks makes our thanks genuine; it validates our thanks to God. 

Anybody could offer words or speak words of thanks but those words are validated or deemed genuine when there is substance to prove it. Substance proves words of thanks. The degree of thanks is measured by the degree of substance. And the degree of substance is measured by the integrity and genuineness of one's heart. 

Honour the Lord ...with the firstfruits of all thine increase. -- Proverbs 3:9. 
Honour the Lord with your first and best. When you bring your thank offering or substance to the Lord giving is not enough, what you give and how you give it is very important. Give your first and best to the Lord. And also have the right attitude towards your thank offering to the Lord; it has to be from a truly grateful and willing heart, not being compelled to.

2 Chronicles 29:31 Then Hezekiah said, "You have now dedicated yourselves to the LORD. Come and bring sacrifices and thank offerings to the temple of the LORD." So the assembly brought sacrifices and thank offerings, and all whose hearts were willing brought burnt offerings.

Those who gave thank offerings first gave themselves to the Lord. God needs you not your substance, but your substance for your promotion. Dedicate yourself to the Lord first. When you offer your substance of thanks your main focus should be on your relationship with the Lord not on the substance you offered. The greater your relationship with the Lord the greater your substance would be in the eyes of the Lord. 

Prepare to thank God for this outgoing year not just with words but also with substance. 

PRAYER

Precious Father, thank you for the victories, blessings and glories I enjoy. Thank you for protection, provision and preservation. I offer not only my words of thanks but also my substance of thanks, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
