DON'T LET THINGS DEFINE YOU

Luke 12:15 Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions." (NIV)

In the world value is primarily defined by money and possessions. People ascribe great value and respect to someone if he has lot of money and abundance of possession. Consequently some people esteem themselves lightly if they don't have much money and possession. Don't be that way.

Don't let things define you. Don't define your value by what you have. The Lord Jesus said "life does not consist in an abundance of possessions." Your life is not in your possession. What you have shouldn't be the mark of your value and what you don't have shouldn't devalue you. You are not what you have or don't have. 

A lot of people run their lives and ruin their lives this way. They are accustomed to thinking that more money and possessions means more value and respect from the society. The world taught them so, but the Word of God teaches us something different. 

People are restless, they are here today and there tomorrow in search of money and possessions to earn value. Jesus tells us a parable. Luke 12:16,18-19 And he told them this parable: "The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. "Then he said, ’This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. And I’ll say to myself, "You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry."’

This man got lot of abundance to enjoy for many years. He thought 'that's it, I have it made.' He thought that's all life was about! He got lot of possession laid up for many years, he was ready to do nothing else but enjoy; take life easy, eat, drink and merry. 

There are many people today who are exactly like this man. Their standard for success in life is money and possession. Their life is in their possession; all they got is all they are. All they live for is all they have; they don't see life beyond enjoying their possession. They eat, drink, travel around and merry. But a man's life is not in the abundance of his possession.

If your life and thought pattern has been this way, change it. Don't let things define your value. Your value is the blood of Jesus, your value is the price God paid for you, that's the life of Jesus. Live with this consciousness; live beyond earthly things. 

CONFESSION

Father I am grateful that you value me in the light of the blood of Jesus. My value is not defined by things but the price God paid to get me, the life of Jesus. I live beyond things; I live beyond what I have or don't have. Amen Hallelujah!
