ACKNOWLEDGE THE GOOD THINGS IN YOU

Scripture — Philemon 1:6

"...that the sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus." (NKJV)

Paul does not pray that Philemon receive something new. He prays that what is already in him would become effective. The good things are already there — in Christ Jesus — but they remain dormant until they are acknowledged.

This is where many believers go wrong. Some only look for and acknowledge the negative things in their lives: "I'm so impatient. My life is full of fear. I don't know what's happening to me." Talking yourself down like that makes your faith defective and ineffective. Your confession does not change what is in you — but it determines whether what is in you ever gets out.

So the word is not casual agreement; it is epignosis — exact, absolute knowledge. God is telling you to dig into the deep and bring it out. The good things He lists are features of your recreated human spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith. Acknowledge that you are loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, gentle, good and meek — not because you achieve them, but because Christ is your life, and His nature is your nature. And this is how faith becomes active, operative, and functional: the sharing of your faith is only as effective as your acknowledgment of what God has already put in you.

Do not voice your seeming inabilities. Affirm the Word. Look into it, find out what is in you, and say it back to God until your confession matches what you have in Christ.

PRAYER

Father, in the name of Jesus, thank You that every good thing is already in me in Christ Jesus. Forgive me for the times I have confessed my weaknesses more loudly than Your Word. Open my eyes to the perfections of Christ in me, that I may know them accurately and speak them without hesitation. Let the sharing of my faith become effectual, active, and powerful today, as I acknowledge every good thing that You have placed in me. In Jesus' mighty name, amen.

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 15th AUGUST 2025 THE ACTIVENESS OF GOD Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (NIV) The word of God is alive and active. Think about that for a moment. God's Word is alive and active. His spoken word is His activeness. In other words if God wanted to do anything He does it simply by His spoken word. If you want Him to move or act in a particular situation all you need is to hear His word concerning that situation.  The Father never leaves His throne. He doesn't move around trying to fix things. If He wanted to get things done in the north, south, east or west He only speaks the Word and have it done. He gets active in a place, situation or circumstance by giving His Word concerning such a situation, circumstance or place. When you want God to intervene or g...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 10th JUNE 2025 PRAYER SHIELDS YOU FROM TEMPTATION Luke 22:40 On reaching the place, he said to them, "Pray that you will not fall into temptation." (NIV) The Lord Jesus prior to His arrest tasked Peter, James and John to pray lest they fall into temptation. But they did not heed to His warning and they fell into temptation. At His arrest they fled from Him and even disowned Him, Peter denied Him completely thrice. Mark 14:33,37 He took Peter, James and John along with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled. Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. "Simon," he said to Peter, "are you asleep? Couldn’t you keep watch for one hour? Prayer shields you from temptation. Temptation is not test. God tests but doesn't tempt. He tested Abraham and many others in the Bible but tempt no one.  Temptation is a trap set by satan for one to fall into sin. Test is an assessment by God to...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 26th JUNE 2025 FIGHT TO FINISH Proverbs 24:16 for though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes. (NIV) It's only the fight that you fight till the end that you have a chance of winning. When boxers engaged in a competitive fight they don't win if they quit at the first or second round, and they don't lose if they were defeated in the first or second round. If you fell once or twice or even more you are not defeated if you are willing to continue the fight to the end. In the battles of life you must be ready to fight to finish.  A righteous person may fall many times but rises again. Falling is not a defeat if one is willing to rise up and fight to finish. We all have our fights, and it will continue until we depart this world.  Apostle Paul tells us to fight. He says "fight the good fight of the faith."  1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Ta...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley  14th MAY 2025 EAGER TO DO WHAT IS GOOD Titus 2:14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. (NIV) One of the characteristics of a wicked person or wickedness is being eager to do what is evil. Those are not born again whose hearts are seared are eager to carry out evil schemes. But the Lord Jesus has redeemed the Christian from all wickedness and has purified him for Himself making him eager to do what is good. Before you got born again you must have found it difficult to do what is good, most especially doing good to people who hated you and treated you badly. But since you got born again and received the Holy Spirit you find out that you willing and eager to do what is good, not only to those who are good to you but also to them that hates you. Being eager to do what is good is the outworking of the life of God in you; never re...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 7th JUNE 2025 MOVE ON FROM THERE Genesis 26:22 He moved on from there and dug another well, and no one quarreled over it. He named it Rehoboth, saying, "Now the LORD has given us room and we will flourish in the land." (NIV) In life you have to learn to always move on. You have to learn how to move on from disappointment, failings, defeat, unfavorable circumstances and opposition. You will have to move on and move away from some oppositions and enemies. Not every time you give time to an enemy, not every fight you should fight. At times you move on and move away from the fight.  Isaac had oppositions regarding the wells his servants dug. His opposers quarreled with him about the wells. He could have fought them to retain the wells, after all it was his but he chose rather to move on from there. Genesis 26:19-21 Isaac’s servants dug in the valley and discovered a well of fresh water there. But the herders of Gerar quarrele...
