GROW IN GRACE AND KNOWLEDGE
Scripture — 2 Peter 3:18
"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen."(NIV)
Peter closes his letter not with a warning but with an invitation: grow. And notice what he does not say. He does not say grow in your righteousness — you already have the same righteousness as Jesus, for He gave you His own. What increases is the outward expression of what God has already placed inside you.
Grace, in this verse, is more than unmerited favour. It is the outward reflection of the inner working of the power of God — the beauty of the Spirit showing through a human life. When grace is genuinely at work in you, it cannot be concealed. Barnabas came to Antioch and saw the grace of God in that church. People should look at you and say, "I see Jesus in you."
Here is the sobering part. Some believers have been in the Lord for many years, yet the flower of their life has gone — the colour, the beauty, the attraction. People used to testify about their Christianity, but there is nothing to see now. That was never the design. The Christian life is meant to increase, not fade; what others once testified of should be seen in you more today, not less.
And growth in knowledge is the engine of it all — not head information, but experiential knowledge, acquaintance with the One who saved you, formed in fellowship. The more knowledge of the Word you have, the more of His grace you are able to walk in, and the more insight you receive into the things of God. So keep learning, keep pressing in, and let the Spirit of God open new things to you daily. The Christian who stops growing has stopped enjoying what he already possesses.
Grace to you, and peace.
PRAYER
Father, in the name of Jesus, I receive the grace to grow. I do not grow in righteousness, for I already possess the righteousness of God in Christ — but let that righteousness overflow until Your grace is visible in all I am and do. Increase my knowledge of Jesus, Lord: not information alone, but fellowship; not doctrine only, but acquaintance. Keep my Christian life fresh, radiant, and full of joy, that men may see Christ in me and testify of Your goodness. To You be glory both now and forever. Amen.
