AN ATTITUDE OF THANKS


1 Thessalonians 5:18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (NIV)


There are thanks that God rejects. Thanking God with words or substance is not enough. An acceptable thanks requires a reverence attitude. Thanksgiving in words or with substance is worship. Our worship of God is more about our hearts than the elements used.


Your words and substance; givings, presentations, gifts and offerings are elements of worship. And all of these could be a mere religious show if we don't apply the right attitude. We are required to give thanks in all circumstances. And this requires an attitude of faith and obedience.


1 Thessalonians 5:18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Maybe something unpleasant just happened, and then this scripture comes into your mind. It would take an attitude of faith and obedience for you to actually give thanks to God for the unpleasant circumstance.

If you were giving thanks to God in anger, bitterness and frustration towards God He would know, and won't accept such thanks. 


You don't give thanks to God out of compulsion. But with willingness, joy and faith in your heart. If you were in church service and the Pastor said, let's be on feet and give thanks to God. Then you began talking, but not giving attention to your words and heart. That's not thanks. Give thanks to God with an attitude of praise, faith, obedience, thanks and reverence. Hallelujah!


PRAYER


Dear Father I give you thanks today for all things! My job, family, children, spouse, ministry, marriage, and above all my walk with you. I thank You for the many victories you have given me many times over many adversaries, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

(NIV) The Apostle Paul writing to the Church in Philippi, said they should rejoice in the Lord always. He didn't say they should rejoice in themselves but in the Lord. That calls for spiritual insight.  It takes spiritual insight to see what we got in the Lord and rejoice. When you are ask to rejoice over something it means that it holds significance and value. Chapter 2 Episode 2 LOVE FULFILS THE LAW Romans 13:8-10 Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law.
