SPUR ONE ANOTHER ON

Hebrews 10:24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, (NIV)

Some people need extra motivation to love and do good even though they know fully well God instructs us to. You find some brethren in the church who are not active in demonstrating love and good deeds. But these are fruits of a Christian. 

The Bible says in our theme scripture that we should consider how to spur one another on toward love and good deeds. How do we encourage ourselves to love and do good? First, it is by realising the love with which Jesus loves us, and emulate it. He loves us unconditionally. And He expect us to love others same way.

Another important way to spur love and good deeds among ourselves is by practice. Do to others what you would have them do to you. Don't only expect love and good deeds from others also take action to be an expression of love and good deeds to others. Like beget like. Your love and good deeds would spur others unto the same. Preaching love and good deeds alone cannot spur the hearers into action but your action can. People are likely to do what you do than what you say.

God's love has been poured out into our hearts but until it's seen in our lives it cannot encourage anyone to love. Romans 5:5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

The love He poured out into your heart is for expression. When you give vent to it, it would spur others unto love and good deeds. Don't just talk love, act it.

CONFESSION

God's love is abundantly poured out into my heart by the Holy Spirit. And I give full expression to it; demonstrating my love and good deeds among people, and by that spurring them unto love and good deeds. My love is contagious, affecting and effecting people unto love and good deeds, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Chapter 2 Episode 2 LOVE FULFILS THE LAW Romans 13:8-10 Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law.
