COMFORT OF THE SCRIPTURE
Romans 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. (KJV)
The Bible was written and preserved for us so we could read and learn not only from the spiritual aspect of it but also to learn from the characters in it. The Bible records lot of people whose real lives portrayed characters to learn from. We have Adam, Noah, Enoch, Moses, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David and so on.
The life of Enoch teaches that one could walk with God in such a great fellowship and could be translated into heaven. He is the first person from whom we learnt that one could leave this world not by death. After him, Elijah, who went into heaven in a whirlwind.
We learned faith and patience from Abraham. In faith he obeyed God's voice to leave his hometown to a place that God would show him. He went without knowing where exactly. God promised him a son which he waited patiently for years before the manifestation came.
In the case Moses we learned about a man who had desire to save God's people but didn't have what it takes. He harbored that desire for years until God showed up and turned his rod into all that he needs to save his people from Egypt.
In the life of David we find a young man whom God anointed, and that anointing brought wars and victories, enemies and friends. We learned from his life that one who has a heart for God will always be victorious no matter what comes.
And the Bible says all these that has been written in the Bible were written for our learning, patience and comfort. Romans 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
If you are facing challenges in your life today look at the characters in the Bible, call to mind their challenges and victories and be patient and comforted. Knowing fully well that you will come out victoriously like they did.
PRAYER
Thank You Father for the victories recorded in the scriptures for our learning, patient and comfort. Through the victories you gave your children in the Bible I am confident of my victory today. I am comforted and assured of victory, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
