PAINS OF LABOUR
Isaiah 66:7-8 "Before she goes into labor, she gives birth; before the pains come upon her, she delivers a son. Who has ever heard of such things? Who has ever seen things like this? Can a country be born in a day or a nation be brought forth in a moment? Yet no sooner is Zion in labor than she gives birth to her children. (NIV)
Though this scripture is prophetically about the new creation (the church) I would like to draw something very practical from it.
Everyone wants to give birth to something great and glorious. Everyone wants to be successful and attain a great feat, but not everyone is willing to go through what is required. It is required that a pregnant woman go through pains of labor prior to giving birth.
Almost everyone in our world profess to be pregnant with greatness and great dreams but not everyone of them realized that to give birth requires birth pains. The easiest way for a pregnant woman who is due for delivery to know it is her time to give birth is the pains of labor; in fact it is the pains that indicates labor. To be ready to deliver is to be in labor, and to be in labor is to be in pain. You have to understand this truth.
An understanding of this profound truth will help you to look forward to giving birth rather than giving up.
As Christians we have times of pain, and it is an important element in living our victorious life. Pains precedes giving birth. You might be at the verge of giving birth to a great testimony when your pains become severe.
Read what our Lord Jesus says in John 16:21-22 "A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world. So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy."
She is in pains because her time has come. You are in pain because your time has come. She forgets her pains as soon as she gives birth. You will forget your pains when you have given birth to what you have conceived and envisioned. So don't give up amid pains but persistently and patiently give birth. Hallelujah!
PRAYER
Lord you are my strength and strengthener. I refuse to wallow in my pains, for I know your grace will pull me through, and I shall give birth to a glorious testimony, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
