ACT IN LINE WITH THE TRUTH

Galatians 2:14 When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in front of them all, "You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then, that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs? (NIV)

Let me give you the background to this verse. Peter (Cephas) visited the church at Antioch which was full of Gentiles. By custom the Jews do not associate with the Gentiles let alone eat with them. But Peter began to associate and eat with them because according to the truth of the Gospel, Christ has made both the Jews and Gentiles one.

But when some Jews came to Peter at Antioch he began to withdraw from the Gentiles. Galatians 2:11-12 When Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned. For before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group.

Peter didn't walk in ignorance but in fear. He knew the truth but was afraid of the Jews and wouldn't walk or act in line with the truth. Thank God Apostle Paul rebuked him! Galatians 2:14 When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in front of them all, "You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then, that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs?

It is not the truth you know that will set you free but the truth you walk in. You might face opposition and persecution in walking in the truth but don't allow fear to overcome you. Live in line with the truth. Don't let anything hinder you. 

We know that it is a truth of the Gospel that only through Jesus that men can be saved. What are we supposed to do? Preach Jesus! Act in line with the truth. You know it is a truth of the Gospel that you should be generous towards the work of the Kingdom, act in line. 

One of the truths of the Gospel is that you are the righteousness of God, act in line. Live in it and live it out; give expression to the righteousness of God as the righteousness of God that you are. 

CONFESSION

I do not set aside the truth of the Gospel but act in line. In the Gospel I have righteousness, redemption, sanctification, wisdom, riches, health, honour and glory, I act in line with this truth. I am one with the Lord Jesus and a joint heir with Him of God, I act in line with this truth. I have the life and nature of God in me, I act in line with this truth, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
