IN EVERYTHING FOR ALL THINGS

1 Thessalonians 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (KJV)

According to the Word of God giving of thanks to God is compulsory. In everything that happens God wants you to give Him thanks. The happening may not be pleasant but He says give thanks. It may even seem that the more you pray the worst things gets but don't stop giving thanks. Because it is God's will for you to give thanks. 

The situation may not be God's will but giving thanks in the midst of it is God's will. Interestingly Ephesians 5:20 says something similar to our opening verse, it says "Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;"
This time it says giving thanks always for all things. This has to do with the pleasant things. When good things begin to happen for you give thanks to God. Always make it a deliberate act to give thanks unto God for all things. 

For some people when little things happen in their favour they take it lightly and not thank God for it. And some when big things happen for them they get ecstatic and forget to give thanks to God. In all situations and for all things you owe God thanks. In some situations it might not make common sense to thank God but doing what the Word says is obedience. If someone died it might look stupid to be giving thanks to God but the Lord Jesus gave thanks to God at the tomb of Lazarus because it is God's will to give thanks in everything, and Lazarus came back to life. 
John 11:41 So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, "Father, I thank you that you have heard me.

PRAYER

Father it is your will that I should give thanks in everything and for all things. I thank You for the circumstances surrounding my life and the assured victory over them. Thank you for the good things, thank you for the seemingly not good ones. I thank you knowing that it is your will for me to give thanks, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
