THERE IS A REWARD FOR YOU

Matthew 19:27 Peter answered him, "We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?" (NIV)

In yesterday's article we talked about denying self and giving up things in order to serve the Lord and the course of the Gospel. But what are we to gain for doing that? It's a good question to ask. Peter asked the Lord the same question. Matthew 19:27 Peter answered him, "We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?"

Anyone in their right senses would want to know the reward they would get for giving up everything for something. They have to know if it is worth it or not. 
The Lord provided the answer in Matthew 19:29 He said "And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life."

There is a hundred times reward here on earth for anything we gave up in order to serve the Lord and be about His business of soul winning. And after here, over there in heaven, eternal life. 
When He says eternal life in Matthew 19:29. He is not referring to the God-life, but living with God eternally (in the same place with the Lord forever). For we already have eternal life here on earth. But we are yet to be with Him physically in person.

There is so much reward for us in giving up everything for the Gospel. If you have been counting your cost of serving the Lord count the reward also, the Lord says the reward is hundred times in this world and hereafter eternal life.
Instead of focusing on what you given up focus rather on what you are gaining and will yet gain. Focusing on the things you gave up may weaken your strength to do more, but if you focus on the reward you have received and yet to receive you will be encouraged and strengthened to do more. 
There is a reward for anything you do for the Gospel's sake, always have this in mind.

PRAYER

Thank You Lord for the privilege and honour to serve You and to be your partner in the propagation of the Gospel in the earth. I am grateful that with the privilege there is also a reward here on earth and there in heaven. I declare that I am strengthened and encouraged to do more, in Jesus' Name. Amen!
