MENTAL ALERTNESS

1 Peter 1:13 Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. (NIV)

The mind is an important tool responsible for our expressions; how we react and relate in any situation is a function of our mind. Our theme scripture above says "with minds that are alert and fully sober." We can dictate the state of our mind, what it processes and how it functions. We can set our minds to be alert, that is, vigilant. 

Mental alertness is crucial. Most especially being mentally alert about spiritual things. We can direct our minds and get it to focus on a particular direction or subject at a time. We can choose to be mentally alert, vigilant and conscious of spiritual things. And for the Christian it is unnegotiable, with your mind you set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. When you set your hope on His soon coming you become more spiritually conscious and busy about the things of the Kingdom. 

You access the things of the spirit with your mind, though they are readily available to your spirit (inner man) they only become real to you when your mind gets a hold on them, and through your mind you bring them into this world as need be. 
Apostle Paul also talked about mental alertness or awareness in Colossians 3:2, He says "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things."
Set your mind on things, in other words, direct it on things above and keep it there, fixed and be conscious of them. 

Be alert about spiritual things and let them dominate your consciousness. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Precious Father thank You for the gift of mind and its freewill ability. I willingly set my mind on things above to be inspired and led on the right path. With my mind I set my hope on the grace to be brought to me when Jesus Christ is revealed at His coming, in Jesus' Name. Amen!

THE BEGINNING OF WISDOM Wisdom will begin to work in and through you and produce results when you fear the Lord. Yes wisdom begin with the fear of the Lord. BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 23rd DECEMBER 2023 REJOICE IN THE LORD ALWAYS Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! (NIV) The Apostle Paul writing to the Church in Philippi, said they should rejoice in the Lord always. He didn't say they should rejoice in themselves but in the Lord. That calls for spiritual insight.  It takes spiritual insight to see what we got in the Lord and rejoice. When you are ask to rejoice over something it means that it holds significance and value. No nobody would ask you to rejoice over something that's not to your advantage. WISDOM DO GOOD We already know that wisdom is known for its deeds. Wisdom is no wisdom if it is not practiced. True wisdom is practicable.  One of the marks of wisdom is good deeds. A wise man does good. It takes loyalty to wisdom (God's Word) to do good. God's Word teaches us to do good. THE WONDERS OF WISDOM chapter 4 episode 1

TURN YOUR EARS TO WISDOM Everyone listens to a voice or voices. Voices comes to one's mind through three main sources. The flesh, satan and God.  The flesh would speak to you based on impulses, emotions and sight. Satan deceitfully speak to people through their flesh, desire and even perversely quoting the Bible. Then God speaks to us through His Word.  None of these voices forces you to listen to or obey it. The flesh cannot force you to listen and obey its voice, satan cannot, and God would not. Listening to any voice that comes to you is a choice. Many voices may come to your ears but you would choose which to turn your ears to you.  You would hear voice of fear, doubt, failing, uncertainty, faith, assurance, victory, riches but deliberately turn your ears to what you want to hear.
