INSIST ON WHAT YOU WANT
Luke 18:1 Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. (NIV)
Jesus told a parable to show us to pray always and never to give up. The Lord knows there is the tendency to give up praying if we experience delay in answers. He told a parable of a woman who wanted justice and kept going to the judge even though the judge put her off many times. She was not deterred, rather she insisted on what she wanted and got it.
Luke 18:2-3 He said: "In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ’Grant me justice against my adversary.’
The judge was never going to grant her justice. He only did not because it was her right but because of her insistence and persistence.
Luke 18:4-5 "For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ’Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’"
If the wicked judge could say that and proceeded to grant the widow justice, why wouldn't the gracious and merciful God not grant your request? At times we quit praying so soon.
Luke 18:6-7 And the Lord said, "Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?
You might ask "do we have to keep asking before God answers? Can't He just answer the first time we ask?"
When we pray for anything God is not so much focused on what we ask for but our attitude, sincerity and faith. At times we ask for what we do not really need, and if doesn't come we give up quickly because it's not a need after all. When it's a necessity you will stick to prayer and God until you have it.
Other times He examines our patience; He builds it, and He also grows us in the place of asking, waiting and receiving. So when you ask insist and persist; it's available and you will get it.
Don't just pray and go away, insist until you get what you want.
PRAYER
Dear Father thank You for the privilege and blessings of prayer. I pray to receive answers. As I insist and persist in prayer I have my desires fully granted, in Jesus' Name. Amen!
