GOD WHO JUSTIFIES THE UNGODLY

Romans 4:5 However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness. (NIV)

Think upon this above verse we just read. God who justifies the ungodly, their faith credited as righteousness. A religious concept believes God condemns the ungodly, but the truth of the Gospel says no, God justifies the ungodly.

God who hates ungodliness and sin, how then could He justify the sinner? It's because God presented Christ as a sacrificial payment for their sins, so when a sinner believes Jesus' death for his sins and His resurrection for his justification, he is set free from sin.
Romans 3:25-26 God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood —to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished — he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

How could God justify a sinner and still remain just? God related with different men in a close relationship before Jesus' redemption for man. Men like Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David and others had a relationship with God which was illegal because in Adam all sinned and fell short of God's glory, and could not and should not have been close to God. Yet God had a close relationship with them, He even called Abraham His friend. The reason God related with them even though they were in the order of the fallen Adam was because He had already given Jesus as a sacrifice for their sin even though He was yet to come into the world. The later sacrifice of Jesus justified God for relating with them. That's exactly what Romans 3:25-26 says in essence. Let us read it again "God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood —to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished — he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus."

You see, even in the old testament even before Jesus' sacrifice for man's sin God justified the sinner. He is the just justifier. It's important we understand this truth as we go around preaching the Gospel to sinners. God has justified them, they only need to accept this truth and walk in His righteousness.

You cannot justify yourself. No one can or should justify himself of sin. God alone is the true justifier. We had faith in the Gospel and we were justified; declared righteous. The unsaved only have to believe in Jesus and God who justifies the ungodly will justify them; declare them righteous.

CONFESSION

My faith is in the Gospel of Jesus. I believe that Jesus was delivered over to death for my sins and was raised to life for my justification. The God who justifies the one who believes has justified me; He has declared me righteous. Hallelujah!
