TRUE PLEASURE
John 4:32-34 But he said to them, "I have food to eat that you know nothing about." Then his disciples said to each other, "Could someone have brought him food?" "My food," said Jesus, "is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. (NIV)
The Lord said "My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work." And that's actually what He lived for. Food in this context is pleasure. His pleasure and fulfillment was in doing the Father's will and completing the work He gave Him.
We look for pleasure and satisfaction in our endeavors. The outside world also seek pleasure and fulfilment to no avail. They undertake many ventures in search for pleasure and fulfillment. They commit their time and resources to it yet true pleasure elude them.
If the Master says my food, pleasure and fulfillment is to do the will of the Father, we should be wise enough to find out what that will is. In Hebrews 10:7 The Lord Jesus declares "Then I said, ’Here I am —it is written about me in the scroll — I have come to do your will, my God.’"
He came to this world to do the will of the Father. That means whatever He did while here on earth was the Father's will. If we find what did then we find the Father's will.
Acts 10:38 summarized the Father's will which the Lord Jesus fulfilled. Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.
This was His food; the true pleasure. He went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil. And this is what we should spend our lives doing. It is the true pleasure in life.
The Master Himself gave us the charge. Matthew 10:8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.
The only way you will find true pleasure and fulfillment in life is when you make the work of the Kingdom your priority. Commit yourself to doing the work. God bless you!
PRAYER
Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for the grace that you have given me. I take advantage of this grace to do the work of the Kingdom wherein is true pleasure and fulfillment. I affirm that you Lord have given me all things that I require for the work of the Kingdom here on earth, therefore I have access to them and use them fully for the course of the Gospel, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
