CHANGE YOUR APPROACH
1 Samuel 3:9-10 So Eli told Samuel, "Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ’Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening.’" So Samuel went and lay down in his place. The LORD came and stood there, calling as at the other times, "Samuel! Samuel!" Then Samuel said, "Speak, for your servant is listening." (NIV)
At times we do the same thing over again and expect changes in our lives. If you are doing something and it's not working out right, if you are not getting the right results change your approach. Until Samuel changed his approach he didn't hear the voice of God.
The young Samuel was serving under Eli the Priest. One night the Lord called his name. Each time Samuel heard the Lord called his name he went to Eli supposing he called him. The third time he heard the voice and went to Eli, the priest knew the Lord was calling Samuel. So he told him how to approach the Lord and respond to his call. Samuel heeded the instruction, he changed his approach and the Lord spoke to him. 1 Samuel 3:9-10 So Eli told Samuel, "Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ’Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening.’" So Samuel went and lay down in his place. The LORD came and stood there, calling as at the other times, "Samuel! Samuel!" Then Samuel said, "Speak, for your servant is listening."
Samuel heard the Lord because he changed his approach towards the voice that called his name. What a great result we would have if we would change our approach! Samuel listened to Eli's instruction. How many of us listen to instruction today or heed simple advice? At times you need advice to change your approach. Someone else may see differently from how you see, and it's to your benefit if you listen to such a person.
Maybe your business is not doing well. Maybe your marriage or your academic or your job is not so well. Give careful observation to identify what you are not doing right, if still you can't get a hold on it, seek advice. Someone else may see what you don't.
The most important thing is application. If you discover what you need to change make the change. Don't procrastinate. Don't look for excuse, just make the change, change your approach. If the approach require relocating your business for example, then do it without hesitation.
Look carefully into your marriage that is not working, and change your approach towards your spouse. Don't say she wronged me she is the one to apologise. That's a wrong approach. The right approach is peace, even if it means for the wronged party to apologize. What matters is peace and going forward. Change your approach to anything you need a change.
PRAYER
Lord God I refuse to be head-bent on the wrong direction. I listen to advice, I accept instruction. I take the right decision and apply the right approach as instructed and led by the Spirit. Through the power of the Spirit I effect changes in my life, ministry, marriage, finances by applying the right approach, in Jesus' Name. Amen!
