STRENGTHENED TO STRENGTHEN OTHERS
Luke 22:32 But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers." (NIV)
The Lord Jesus prayed for Simon Peter that his faith may not fail, and said to him when you are strengthened strengthen your brothers. Each one of us has the responsibility to strengthen others. The unpleasant circumstances we experience and the victory we have in them is so that we can encourage and strengthen those who go through the same kind of circumstance.
Sadly, some who were strengthened in their time of hardship and discouragement do not take the responsibility to encourage and strengthen others in their time of hardship too. They wouldn't talk about the hardship they themselves had been through but rather make it seem as though this fellow is not rooted in the faith that's why he is going through hard times. That's not a Christian attitude.
Apostle Paul, many times in the scriptures tells us how he faced hard times and troubles. He said he was strengthened and comforted so he could comfort those in troubles.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
Don't only talk about the good things which happens for you, also talk about the hard times and troubles you faced from which God delivered you. Let people know that you had troubles but God delivered you so that they too can be strengthened and comforted knowing that the same God will delivered them too.
2 Corinthians 1:8-10 We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about the troubles we experienced in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself. Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us,
Every one of us must learn to say the truth of what happened, let people be aware so that they can be strengthened, encouraged and comforted.
PRAYER
Precious Father I am grateful that you delivered me from all the troubles that surrounded me. Indeed you are the God of compassion and all comfort, with the comfort you have comforted me I shall comfort others to be strengthened and encouraged to come out triumphant in all their troubles, in Jesus' Name. Amen!
