DUTY OR DELIGHT

Colossians 3:22 Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to curry their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. (NIV)

The word rendered "slaves" in this above scripture is simply "servants" and by extension "employees." If you are not working for yourself but for someone then you are an employee. This scripture addresses employee's attitude toward his job. God doesn't want you to work for eye-service; trying to please your employer. No! But with sincerity and reverence for the Lord. 

You see, a lot of people work for duty but work should be a delight. Their work is about fulfilling their duty even by deceitful ways. The attitude God want you to have towards your job is sincerity and reverence for Him as though you were working for Him not man. When you have this attitude your work becomes a delight. Then it becomes more than a job to you because you are working to please God such that you could even do the work without being paid. 

God doesn't want us to work just for the money, there is more; using your job as a platform to display God's character. Some people are slaves to their jobs because of money. They wish to quit but for the money they continue, they are only discharging their duties, no delight and dignity of work. That shouldn't be you. Work with delight, and reverence for the Lord. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

I thank You Lord for my Job. By the help of your Spirit and the attitude your word created in me I do my work with delight and pleasure, with sincerity, and reverence to You, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Chapter two INSPIRATION Another thing you will find on your way to the Top is inspiration. Inspiration means an arousal or being stir up from within to take an action or embark on a course. If you don't have it getting to the Top is impossible. You will rely on inspiration to go higher and higher in life. If you are not inspired or stirred up from within to be about anything don't venture into it, it might fail. If you are not inspired to get to the Top in your endeavor, career or profession you may never get there.
