DOES HE CARE?
Mark 4:35-36 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, "Let us go over to the other side." Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. (NIV)
Jesus and His disciples were crossing over a river to the other side of it when suddenly waves came up against the boat. It was so strong that the boat almost capsided. The disciples were so terrified and then woke Jesus up who was sleeping at the rear. They asked Him "Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?"
Mark 4:37-38 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, "Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?"
They questioned if He cared even though they knew He did. At times when people find themselves in a pressing situation, terrified and confused they wonder whether God even notice them or care about their situation. Does He care? Of course He does.
There is so much to learn from this account. You see, though Jesus was in the boat with His disciples trouble still came. Until He spoke the trouble did not go away. It is not the presence of Jesus that causes things to happen but His spoken word. Today He speaks to your situation through your voice. That's why you got to let the Holy Spirit inspire you with the word and so speak forth.
Mark 4:39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Quiet! Be still!" Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
Instead of questioning whether or not God care about your situation declare His word concerning the situation. As you speak the situation will be stilled.
God cares about you. It is written all over the scriptures. In the midst of the storms of life you may be forced to think otherwise like the disciples. But reject such thoughts. Confess that God cares. For He does.
1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
PRAYER
Father I acknowledge that you care for me and about everything that concerns me. I am not confused in the midst of the storm, nor doubt your love for me. By your word in my mouth every storm against me are stilled, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
