AVOID DISTRACTIONS
Hebrews 12:2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (NIV)
As a christian your focus is very important. If you were very good in sewing but while sewing turn your attention to something else you would mess up that dress. If you think you are a sound Christian (so to say) but do not focus on Jesus and His word you can't go far in the walk.
In a world where everything, both good and bad desires your attention you will need to be determined and deliberate to keep your focus on Jesus. The Bible says "fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith." This denotes turning attention away from something unto Jesus. Don't give your attention to everything that demands it. Be smart! God cannot use you without you being focused. And you cannot enjoy much of God's blessings if your attention is not fixed on Jesus and His goodnews. Turn your eyes away from everything else unto Jesus.
The eyes of your mind is of utmost importance; your mental picture and focus. Whatever you set your mind on will control you, dictate and determine the outcome of your life. Your mind is a powerful instrument to walk in God's will by setting His word on my mind. But it could also be a bad instrument to walk against His will if not set rightly.
Another important thing to keep in check is good things in disguise. Some good things are bad things to distract you from the right cause. Everything that seems good may not be good. And not every good thing is good for you anytime; timing is important. Avoid distractions!
CONFESSION
My eyes are fixed on Jesus and His infallible Word. I say no to distraction and deception. I am focused on Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of my faith, Amen.
