LOOK BEYOND APPEARANCE

1 Samuel 16:7 But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." (NIV)

If you choose to know people by the flesh you have chosen to know their flaws, weakness, failures, insufficiency and all the negatives you could find in the flesh. The best of man is in his spirit not his flesh.

The outward appearance of a man could be deceptive, it doesn't always communicate the true state of things. One may appear good when in reality he is not. Another may seem a bad person when he is actually not bad.

God asked Samuel to go to the house of Jesse to anoint one of his sons to be king, and once he saw Eliab who was a tell, huge and giant man, he concluded he must be the Lord's anointed. 
But God told Samuel not to consider his appearance. 

How many times we consider people's appearance and judged them wrongly, and missed out on what they brought to us and what we should have given them. How many times we let appearance rob us of God's best. God's rich deposit is in the inward of a man. We must learn to look like God. 
God doesn't look at appearance but the inward. We have to know people by their spirit; look beyond appearance.

Behind that wayward fellow is a golden heart, a rich deposit within. Yes, the good inside should be on the outside, but sometimes it requires other people's help, and your help could be enough to bring out the good in someone else. Instead of looking at their flaws look into the good in them and help them bring it out. 

PRAYER

Dear Father I thank You for the eyes with which you see me. You see beyond my mistakes, insufficiency and failings. I choose to see others the way you see me. I see the best, beauty and greatness in others and help them walk in it, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
