TWO-WAY CHANNEL
Philippians 4:15 Moreover, as you Philippians know, in the early days of your acquaintance with the gospel, when I set out from Macedonia, not one church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you only; (NIV)
The Apostle Paul made a remarkable statement "the matter of giving and receiving" while addressing the Philippian church. Giving is not one way; when we give it creates another way, making it a two-way channel. Giving and receiving goes together. Everyone who gives sincerely, joyfully and willingly also receives.
Not many people are aware or practise this ministry. Giving and receiving is actually a ministry, and very few people practise it deliberately.
Train yourself to always give for Kingdom work and other good works, and when you do always expect to receive, because it is a matter or ministry of giving and receiving. Givers receives. Not only to reward them for giving but so they could give again because they are good channels.
Interestingly our theme scripture says "giving and receiving" not "receiving and giving." Luke 6:38 also says to give first before receiving. "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."
It is only measured back to those who measure out first. Those who want to receive everything first before giving anything cannot operate in this ministry of giving and receiving. Prioritize giving over receiving. In the matter of giving and receiving it is giving that bring about receiving. What you give determines the measure that will be measured back to you.
Someone might ask 'does it mean if we don't give God won't give us anything?' God has already given us everything. But there is the law of sowing and reaping. If we don't sow, what we have cannot multiply.
Position yourself, train yourself to operate and excel in the matter of giving and receiving.
PRAYER
Precious Father thank you for the privilege and blessing of giving. As I give today I operate in the matter of giving and receiving. My giving open a way of receiving to me; pressed down and running over shall people measure back to me, in Jesus' Name. Amen!
