ETERNITY IN GOD

 

Acts 17:28 "For in him we live and move and have our being." As some of your own poets have said, "We are his offspring." (NIV)

 

On the Areopagus in Athens, Paul stood before the most intellectual minds of the ancient world and pointed them to a God they had not yet truly known. He did not argue from arguments first; he anchored them in reality: in him we live and move and have our being. Not merely exist, not merely function — live, move, have our being. Your heartbeat, your breath, your very continuity from moment to moment is sustained by the power of the Almighty. You are not a machine running on its own; you are sustained by the Everlasting God.

 

And then he went further: We are his offspring. Not accidental, not abandoned, not a cosmic experiment. You are of his kindred. In Christ, you are not just sustained by God — you are related to God. Your eternal destiny is not a mystery to be guessed; it is a family matter. You will live forever, move forever, and have your being forever in the One who has been your Father from the beginning.

 

When the pressures of this world threaten to make you feel small, temporary, or disconnected, remember: your life is wrapped in eternity. You live in the Everlasting, move in the Everlasting, and have your being in the Everlasting — and that is not going to end, because He never stops.

Grace to you, and peace.

 

PRAYER

 

Father, in the name of Jesus, thank You that I live, move, and have my being in You. Thank You that I am Your offspring, not by accident but by purpose. Remind me today that my life is wrapped in Your eternity, that You never stop sustaining me, and that my destiny is safe in Your hands. Keep my heart anchored in the knowledge that I belong to the Everlasting God. In Jesus' mighty name, amen.
