WE ARE NOT VULNERABLE

 

"Many are saying of me, 'God will not deliver him.' But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high." — Psalms 3:2–3 (NIV)

 

Beloved, notice the contrast in this passage. There is the voice of the enemy, the voice of the world, and even the voice of the doubting mind, all saying the same thing: "He is finished. He has no way out. God will not deliver him."

 

It is a powerful lie, but it is still a lie. And the reason it is a lie is that it operates from the perspective of the natural, weak, exposed self. It looks at the branch and forgets the Vine. It looks at the soldier and forgets the Commander.

 

But then comes the declaration of the New Creation: "But you, LORD..."

This two-word phrase shifts the entire battle from the realm of human vulnerability to the realm of divine invincibility. You are not vulnerable because vulnerability belongs to the old man, and the old man is dead. You are not an exposed target; you are covered by a shield.

 

Note the preposition: the LORD is not just a shield; He is a shield around me. It is a complete, 360-degree encirclement. There is no angle of attack, no back door, no ambush. The Creator of the universe stands as your defensive perimeter.

 

Furthermore, God is described as "my glory, the One who lifts my head high." When the enemy's aim is to keep you in a crouch—to make you low, defeated, and looking down in shame—your God specializes in lifting your head. He restores your dignity. He restores your standing. You do not live on your knees forever; you live on your feet, with your head held high, because your Shield is your Glory.

 

PRAYER

 

Father, I reject the voice of the "many." I refuse to define my life by the opinions of the world or the attacks of the enemy. I declare that You are my shield around me. You are my glory. Lift my head high, Lord! Let me walk today with the unshakeable confidence that I am not vulnerable, for I am covered by the invincible power of the Most High. In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
