HABITUALLY PRAY FOR MINISTERS
2 Thessalonians 3:1-2 As for other matters, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you. And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not everyone has faith. (NIV)
The rapid spread of the Gospel and the success of the Kingdom work on earth depends on the ministers of the Gospel. They are in the forefront of the battle to advance the Gospel. The church and individual members should make it a habit to pray for ministers of the Gospel around the world.
The Apostle Paul writing to the Thessalonian church said "As for other matters, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you. And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not everyone has faith." - 2 Thessalonians 3:1-2
First, he made it clear that the rapid spread of the message of the Lord was dependent on their prayer. Secondly, he said they would be protected from wicked and evil people in answer to their prayers. And we should endeavour to pray this prayer for our ministers today. Pray that the Gospel spread through them and be honoured. Pray that they and their families are protected from wicked and evil people, for not everyone believes in Jesus. And do this habitually.
At times we complain about the short-coming or failing of some ministers but we never reprimand ourselves for not playing our roles to pray for them. Ministers or leaders in the church are more exposed to danger and attacks, they are vulnerable without our prayers. Our prayer is their protection. Instead of finding fault with a minister find time to pray for him.
PRAYER
I pray for ministers around the world, that the message of the Lord (the Gospel) spread rapidly through them and be accepted and honoured. I pray that they are protected from wicked and evil people, and I pray that they are abundantly supplied with all things, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
