FIX YOURSELF FIRST

Matthew 7:3-4 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ’Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? (NIV)

There were certain friends who were both married. They both had challenges in their marriages but one of them often covered up the problems in his marriage not for positive reasons or attitude. He always professed solution to his friend's marital problems instead of fixing his own. 

We have lot of people who are like that today. They are experts in analysing and profiling solution to people's problems when they have no answer to theirs. The Bible teaches us to help others but not when we have no solution to our own problems. That's being a busy body. It's like your car broke down on a highway then you offer to help someone else fix his car that also broke down on the same highway so he could continue on his journey. How about you? Do you plan to sleep the highway? 

Some people are very good in seeing other people's problem and the solution they should apply while theirs follows them around. They know why the man failed? They know what to do to prosper the whole nation but they haven't done it to proser themselves. 

There are some help that are not help. It is being ignorant and hypocritical. Jesus said in Matthew 7:5 "You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye."

Be careful of people whose problems obviously walk around with them but want to help you solve yours. Tell them politely to first solve their own problems. Such people could only increase your problems. 

Before you offer to fix someone else's life fix yours first, then you will be rightly positioned with your victory over your problems and the experience required to help them. 

PRAYER

Precious Father, through the help of the Holy Spirit I give attention to the problems in my life to fix them, before attempting to help others fix theirs. And through the power and wisdom of the Spirit I am able to help them, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Chapter 2 Episode 2 LOVE FULFILS THE LAW Romans 13:8-10 Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law.
