FINISH WELL

1 Corinthians 9:24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. (NIV)

When we started the year it was like starting a marathon race. Some of us started really fast while others started slowly, but what matters is how we finish. And I encourage you to finish well.

Our theme scripture implies that if you were actually running a race in the course of this year you would have to really run well in order to win. Maybe you did not start out the year well enough. Maybe things didn't go fast as you planned, but you can still finish well. Maximize the remaining months and days. With the Word and the Holy Spirit you can still achieve much.

Your focus should be on how well you can round up the year. What and what can you do more? Don't take your focus too forward into January next year, no! There is more you could do in the remaining days of this year that could make you better prepared to plan for next year. Don't waste the remaining days of the year. Special grace comes with each year. You might not find this year's grace in next year.

Run in such intensity as to win. There is the intensity, consistency and determination required to win, employ it. Put in everything at your disposal to finish well. Let it be that you did what you should do.

PRAYER

Dear Holy Spirit I rely on you to finish well. I have come this far by your help, and the remaining months and days are with you. Through your wisdom and ability I shall put in more and finish well and gloriously, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
