THE NAME OF JESUS

Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (NIV)

In the above scripture the Lord Jesus instructed His disciples to baptize in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. But throughout the new testament we do not find any record that they actually baptized in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. We only find several records where they baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ. That's very instructive.

Acts 2:38 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 8:16 because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them; they had simply been baptized IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS.
Acts 10:48 So he ordered that they be baptized IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST. Then they asked Peter to stay with them for a few days.

From these scriptures we find out that the disciples actually baptized in the Name of the Jesus, and that's because they understood that the Name of the Father, of the Son and the Holy Spirit is Jesus. Jesus is the Name of the Godhead (Trinity).

The Holy Spirit answers to the Name of Jesus. He was sent to us in the Name of Jesus. He answers to that Name; He bears the Name, Jesus. John 14:26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will SEND IN MY NAME,...

The Father too bears the Name, Jesus. The Lord Jesus Himself tells us this, in John 17:11-12, He says "...Holy Father, protect them by the power of YOUR NAME, THE NAME YOU GAVE ME, so that they may be one as we are one. While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by THAT NAME YOU GAVE ME..."
The Lord Jesus implies that the Name the Father gave Him is His own Name. The Name Jesus bears is the Father's Name. 

What Name did He give Him? Philippians 2:9-10 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and GAVE HIM THE NAME THAT IS ABOVE EVERY NAME, that at THE NAME OF JESUS every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

The Name the Father gave Him is Jesus. And that's the Father's Name. Jesus is the Name of God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. So whenever you use the Name be conscious of all the power, dominion and authority vested in that Name. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Precious Father thank You for all the power, dominion and authority you vested in the Name of Jesus. And thank You for the privilege to use the Name. As I use the Name of Jesus it produces results, solution and answers, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
