LAY ASIDE EVERY WEIGHT

Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, (KJV)

Every new year is like an unploughed land which you must plough and sow the kind of seeds you want. It's important that you don't give yourself the burden of sowing needless seeds. 
Every new year is also like going into a marathon race where focus and patience are of high importance. 

Whether looking at the year like sowing in a new land or running a marathon race laying aside every unnecessary weight is paramount to our final outcome. You find people who planned out what and what they would be about in the course of the year but as they journey they deviate from their original course unto unnecessary weight. This the Bible says lay aside. 

Once time Jesus told His disciples what to take along on the journey of soul winning, anything else they might take along would be unnecessary weight.
Luke 22:36 He said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.

There are requirements for your journey through this year, they are the things you should identify and focus on, everything else would be unnecessary weight and a distraction.
One main thing that would keep you away from distraction and deviating is looking unto Jesus. 
Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

In the course of your journey you will find many things to look unto both the pleasurables and unpleasants, favorable and unfavorable, and both could be just a mere distraction. You must constantly and deliberately turn away from all these unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of your faith. 

Looking unto Jesus will constantly shape your focus and direction, keeping you alert and focus on the right course and the most important things. It would help you lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily ensnare, so you could run with patience the race that is set before you. 

CONFESSION

I refuse to get entangled and enticed by unnecessary weight. So I lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily enslaves, I run with patience the race set before me this year, I run with focus and direction, meeting targets and achieving my set-goals, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
