THE GOSPEL; THE CROSS; THE POWER
1 Corinthians 1:17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel —not with wisdom and eloquence, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power. (NIV)
The Gospel is the good news that Jesus died on the cross for man's sins and He was raised from the dead for man's justification. But this same message that saves is foolishness to men of senses. But it is the only power of God to save.
The power of the cross of Christ is that man doesn't have to do anything to be saved from his sins other than to believe and accept that Jesus' death on the cross was for him. But many sees this as foolishness. They even argued that they didn't live before Jesus, how could He had died for the sins they didn't commit. But it is power of God to salvation.
1 Corinthians 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
The message of the cross (Jesus being substituted for man on the cross) is the only power of God to save man from sin and eternal death.
1 Corinthians 1:22-24 Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
Even today many still demand for signs and others for wisdom (what appeals to the senses), but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to some and foolishness to others, but to those whom God has called everywhere, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
This is what we should continue to preach and live. The message of the Cross; the truth of the Gospel should not be diluted for any reason whatsoever; whether persecution, rejection, opposing knowledge or anything.
The Gospel is about the cross and its significance, and it is the power of God unto salvation, and this cannot be changed. The Gospel, the cross and the power remains; they cannot be modified.
CONFESSION
I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to them that believes. In the Gospel the righteousness of God is revealed which is by faith in Christ Jesus. The message of the cross is the power and wisdom of God unto salvation, and as we preach around the world people are convinced about the truth of the Gospel and give their hearts to Christ, in Jesus' Name. Amen!
