OBEDIENCE IS BETTER

1 Samuel 15:22 But Samuel replied: "Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. (NIV)

There is no telling what simple obedience to God's word could do for you. Often we want to give to God to express our love and reverence for Him, that's good but obedience to His word is better. God delights in obedience to His word than whatever we give Him. We see a clear example of this in the case of King Saul. 

God gave King Saul clear instructions to attack the Amalekites and totally destroy them, men and woman and all that belongs to them. 1 Samuel 15:3 Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.’"

Saw went on the mission but contrary to God's specific instructions he brought back cattle and sheep. Then he tried to justify himself by saying I intend to sacrifice them to God. How could he wanted to sacrifice to God the same cattle and sheep God commanded him to destroy?
1 Samuel 15:21 The soldiers took sheep and cattle from the plunder, the best of what was devoted to God, in order to sacrifice them to the LORD your God at Gilgal." That's what Saul said to Samuel.

Samuel responded to him in 1 Samuel 15:22-23, But Samuel replied: "Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has rejected you as king."

What disobedience could cause a man! Never try to appease or please God with things. The Bible tells us is faith that pleases God. Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God,... Obeying God's Word is faith. And that's what pleases Him. 

Disobeying God's word is rebellion and arrogance, it means you reject God's word, and that could cause you to loose your blessing or place of honour. 
More than whatever you have to give to God obedience is better. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Lord Jesus, I delight in your word and I delight in obeying it. Thank you for the glory, blessings and favour that comes with obeying your word. More than what I give to you I prioritize obeying and living in your Word and the blessings thereof, Amen!

THE BEGINNING OF WISDOM Wisdom will begin to work in and through you and produce results when you fear the Lord. Yes wisdom begin with the fear of the Lord. (NIV) The Apostle Paul writing to the Church in Philippi, said they should rejoice in the Lord always. He didn't say they should rejoice in themselves but in the Lord. That calls for spiritual insight.  It takes spiritual insight to see what we got in the Lord and rejoice. When you are ask to rejoice over something it means that it holds significance and value. WISDOM DO GOOD We already know that wisdom is known for its deeds. Wisdom is no wisdom if it is not practiced. True wisdom is practicable.  One of the marks of wisdom is good deeds. THE WONDERS OF WISDOM chapter 4 episode 1

TURN YOUR EARS TO WISDOM Everyone listens to a voice or voices. Voices comes to one's mind through three main sources. The flesh, satan and God.  The flesh would speak to you based on impulses, emotions and sight. Satan deceitfully speak to people through their flesh, desire and even perversely quoting the Bible. Then God speaks to us through His Word.  None of these voices forces you to listen to or obey it. The flesh cannot force you to listen and obey its voice, satan cannot, and God would not. Listening to any voice that comes to you is a choice. Many voices may come to your ears but you would choose which to turn your ears to you.  You would hear voice of fear, doubt, failing, uncertainty, faith, assurance, victory, riches but deliberately turn your ears to what you want to hear.
