LET NOTHING CHOKE THE WORD

Luke 8:14 The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature.(NIV)

The word of God that comes to us has the ability to produce in and for us what it talks about. Our heart receives the word as seed even as soil receives the seed sown into it. But at times those seeds germinate among thorns. Those Precious seeds are then choked by thorns making them unfruitful. Life's worries are thorns that choke the word and limit it from producing what it says.

When we receive the word we are full of joy and expectation. But then there are thorns called life's worries, riches and pleasures that choke the word if not fought against. What is life worries? Life's worries are worries about the necessities of life that one doesn't have. 

It's good to have the necessities of life but if you are yet to have all that you need don't let that choke the word that should have produced them. 
Is anything wrong with pleasure and riches? Emphatically no! God says "Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness - Proverbs 8:18, At His right hand are pleasures forevermore - Psalms 16:11." All these comes from God. But if you are yet to have them as much as you need don't let that choke the word that should have produced them. 

Let nothing choke the word that you receive from God. The word is a seed. Seed is not meant to remain a seed, it has to go through process to produce what is expected of it; a tree with fruits. The word will work through you (a process) to produce what it talks about. But there is a role for you to play. Your role is to retain the word in your heart and by persevering produce results.

Luke 8:15 But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop. (NIV) Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Father I thank You for your word which is sown into my heart. I will not allow anything to choke it. I guard it by the help of the Holy Spirit. I retain the word and through perseverance produce the results it talks about, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
