BREAKFAST WITH JESUS

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 28th JUNE 2025 YOUR PRAYER IS EFFECTIVE James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. (NIV) What the above scripture mean is not to confess your wrong deeds to others but to acknowledge your wrongs towards others. That is, if you wronged a fellow Christian kindly acknowledge it to him, "I was wrong, I am sorry." That's what it means. Not confession of sins, confession of sin is to God only. The later part of this above scripture is so inspiring, "The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." How encouraging this is to pray! A lot of times some Christians wonder if God even answered their prayers. God does answer prayers, but it's important for a Christian to recognize the power and effect of his own prayers. Your prayers are powerful and effective. How you see your prayer i...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 27th JUNE 2025 THE HELP IS HERE Psalm 60:11 Give us help against the enemy; human help is worthless. (CEB) This prayer was offered by the Psalmist many years back before Jesus came. The true answer to this prayer is the Holy Spirit. After Jesus' ascension He sent the Holy Spirit to the church. We don't pray "give us help against the enemy" today, no! He has given us help: the help is here. The Holy Spirit came solely to live in and through a believer. He is the help of God to the church. What a Christian needs is not help but knowledge and understanding of the Person and Ministry of the Holy Spirit, who is the help of God.  John 14:26 But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 26th JUNE 2025 FIGHT TO FINISH Proverbs 24:16 for though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes. (NIV) It's only the fight that you fight till the end that you have a chance of winning. When boxers engaged in a competitive fight they don't win if they quit at the first or second round, and they don't lose if they were defeated in the first or second round. If you fell once or twice or even more you are not defeated if you are willing to continue the fight to the end. In the battles of life you must be ready to fight to finish.  A righteous person may fall many times but rises again. Falling is not a defeat if one is willing to rise up and fight to finish. We all have our fights, and it will continue until we depart this world.  Apostle Paul tells us to fight. He says "fight the good fight of the faith."  1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Ta...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley  25th JUNE 2025 KEEP YOUR DREAM ALIVE Habakkuk 2:2-3 And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. (NIV) We live for God, and we live for God through the visions or dreams He inspires in our hearts. By extension we live for our dreams. Dreams are mental pictures you see about yourself being a blessing to others.  God told Habakkuk to write down the vision he saw and make it plain on tablet. That's the first step to running with a vision. Write down your vision. And God went on to say "For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry." Your dream or vision will surely c...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 24th JUNE 2025 AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL -- LIGHT Psalms 30:5 For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning. (NJKV) Weeping may endure for a night. That night is a season. That season could be a month, a year, two years, five years or more. But at the end of the night comes the morning. There is always a morning after a night. And that morning comes with joy.  You may be in your night season right now when everywhere around you is dark and things look uncertain. And you are patiently waiting for the daylight; waiting for things to change for good. It's like going through a dark tunnel and hoping for light at the end of it. There shall be light for you at the end of the tunnel. People may have stories of your dark days and hard times but soon they shall see your light and rejoice with you.  Mostly, night seasons are tough times. The Bible says "Weeping ...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley  23rd JUNE 2025 THE GLORY IS GREATER 2 Corinthians 4:16-17 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. (NIV) We do not lose heart though we are surrounded by troubling situations. In some circumstances our outward self suffers but in the midst of it our inwardly self is renewed continually. And the glory produced in us is far greater than the sufferings we go through.  We may not always find it easy. The Lord didn't promise us a journey through life without challenges or oppositions but He did promise us victory over them all. The Bible calls our troubles light and momentary. They do not have the ability to overpower or overwhelm us unless we give in. And they are truly momentary; they came to pass.  The troubles and sufferings we go through ach...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley  22nd JUNE 2025 GOD WANTS YOU TO HAVE POSSESSIONS Exodus 3:21-22 "And I will make the Egyptians favorably disposed toward this people, so that when you leave you will not go empty-handed. Every woman is to ask her neighbor and any woman living in her house for articles of silver and gold and for clothing, which you will put on your sons and daughters. And so you will plunder the Egyptians." (NIV) Possession here on earth are tools for doing the work of the Kingdom and also a testament of God's blessing upon His people. God wants you to have possession. Contrary to what some people erroneously believe possession or property is not a sin. It is how you acquire your property and what you do with them that makes it a sin or not. And you can't have too much properties or possessions if you know what it is for; they are tools for doing the work of the Kingdom. If you have a landed-property it is to propagate the work of...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 21st JUNE 2025 TO WORSHIP AND OBEY GOD Ecclesiastes 12:13 Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. (NIV) The great King Solomon enjoyed the best life had to offer in his days. He denied himself nothing his eyes or heart desired, after everything he still concluded that the whole duty of man is to fear God and obey his commandments. And that tells us something -- life is for God, a successful life is one lived for Him.  To fear God in our theme verse actually means to reverence and worship God. Our duty on earth is not to try to become something or make a name for ourselves but simply to worship and obey God. If everyone or least every Christian fulfill this purpose the world would be a better place for everyone. Life is from God and for God. Life and existence is His idea and making. You should live only for Him.  Worship is very ...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 20th JUNE 2025 HUMBLE YOURSELF Luke 18:14 "I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted." (NIV) God delights in exalting people. All through the Bible we see how He exalted many. For instance, David. David was the last born of his parents. And his parents were not prominent in the land of Israel. David was not regarded even among his family, such that when Samuel the Prophet came to anoint one of Jese's sons to be king, David was not invited. No one thought he could be part of such a meeting. But God anointed him to be king, exalted him and made him great. What was David's role? Humility. David was humble, and God exalts the humble.  Watch your life; watch pride and arrogance. Most often people do not recognize they have become proud and arrogant. Be humble enough to listen to wha...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 19th JUNE 2025 INSIST ON WHAT YOU WANT Luke 18:1 Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. (NIV) Jesus told a parable to show us to pray always and never to give up. The Lord knows there is the tendency to give up praying if we experience delay in answers. He told a parable of a woman who wanted justice and kept going to the judge even though the judge put her off many times. She was not deterred, rather she insisted on what she wanted and got it. Luke 18:2-3 He said: "In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ’Grant me justice against my adversary.’ The judge was never going to grant her justice. He only did not because it was her right but because of her insistence and persistence.  Luke 18:4-5 "For some time he refused. But finally he said to h...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 18th JUNE 2025 VICTORY OVER DEATH 1 Corinthians 15:55-57 "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (NIV) 1 Corinthians 15:57 "But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." is a continuation of the preceding verses 55th and 56th. It's answer to the questions in verses 55th and 56th. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Victory over what? Victory over sin and death. Think about it! The Christian has victory over death through the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus' death and resurrection was for man. His victory over death was for man not for Himself. A Christ...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 17th JUNE 2025 NO WEAPON SUCCEEDS AGAINST YOU Isaiah 54:17 no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me," declares the LORD. (NIV) A Christian will always have oppositions. Being good as a person or Christian doesn't exempt one from opposition, enemy and rivalry. There are people who will set themselves against you to fight you just because you follow what is good. Most especially when your good course hinders their evil agenda. Don't be surprised when people stand against you and your good course. And never you get frightened, intimidated or give up. The Bible says no weapon forged against you shall prevail. It doesn't matter who they are, what they have or how many they are, they cannot succeed against you. You have a role to refute or condemn every word spoken against you. Deli...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 15th JUNE 2025 OVER ALL; THROUGH ALL; IN ALL Ephesians 4:6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. (NIV) When the Bible says "God is over all" it means He is in charge over everything; everything is subject to Him. When it says "He is through all" it means He expresses Himself through all or everything expresses Him. When it says "He is in all" it means His essence is in all. When we relate this definition to the new creation it makes it more beautiful. God is over you as a new creation. He expresses Himself through you. And He lives in you. He is over everyone of us, through everyone of us, and in everyone of us. This is what makes the Christian life a Christian life - God alive in you. The beauty and definition of Christianity is God over you, through you and in you. God over you means He is Lord over you. Until and unless you submit to His Lordship He cannot live in yo...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley  14th JUNE 2025 FAITH, LOVE AND HOPE 1 Thessalonians 1:3 We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. (NIV) Our Christian life is enveloped in these three; faith, love and hope, without these there is no Christianity.  We received the life of God through faith in Jesus Christ and all He has done for us. We express the life of God through love. In Christ we have received and experienced the love of God. Loving God and loving people is the only genuine proof that we have the life of God.  Our hope in the Lord's return keeps us aglow for His work and also to endure through difficult times. Faith, love and hope are central to our Christian walk.  Our work or manifestation of the power and glory of the Kingdom of God is by faith.  Our labour or service in the Kingdom is by love.  And our endurance...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 13th JUNE 2025 BUILD YOURSELF UP Jude 1:20 But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, (NIV) Apostle Jude admonish us to build ourselves up in our most holy faith. Our most holy faith has to do with our highest revelation of the Word, and to build ourselves up in our highest revelation of the Word requires meditation on the Word and praying in the Holy Spirit. Praying in the Holy Spirit is praying in tongues.  When we meditate on the Word we have pictures of greater insight into our reality in Christ, and then we are built up, edified and stabilized in that reality.  Praying in tongues does the same thing. When you pray in tongues your mind broadens to comprehend and apprehend the realities and truths of the Gospel. These truths builds you up, emboldens and energizes you. 1 Corinthians 14:4 Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves, but the one who prophes...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 12th JUNE 2025 ALL DEPENDS ON YOUR FAITH Matthew 14:31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?" (NIV) What we get and how much we do in our Christian walk all depend on our faith not the power available or even the presence of the Lord. What is required for results in the Christian journey is not the presence of Jesus or our relationship with Him even though these two are very important factors, what is required is faith.  While Jesus was walking on water Peter asked Him that he might do the same, the Master gave him permission and he began to walk on water. But when he saw the wind he became afraid and began to sink. The Lord Jesus reached out His hand and held him. Peter was sinking right in the presence of Jesus.  Matthew 14:29-31 "Come," he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But whe...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 11th JUNE 2025 GIVE HIM THANKS Ephesians 5:20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. (NIV) We may not always find ourselves in a good situation but thanking God in any situation we find ourselves is unnegotiable. The Word instructs us to thank God for everything not for some things. And those everything may not always be favourable but He says give thanks.  Make thanksgiving your habit; give Him thanks. You look around you, your expectations are yet to come through, give Him thanks. You haven't been called for the job you applied for give Him thanks. It seems your business is not working give Him thanks.  Thanking God is an obedience to His Word not really a response to your situation. Before the situation He says give thanks in every situation; your thanksgiving is not a condition of your situation. So give Him thanks in all circumstances.  1 Thessalonians 5:18 gi...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 10th JUNE 2025 PRAYER SHIELDS YOU FROM TEMPTATION Luke 22:40 On reaching the place, he said to them, "Pray that you will not fall into temptation." (NIV) The Lord Jesus prior to His arrest tasked Peter, James and John to pray lest they fall into temptation. But they did not heed to His warning and they fell into temptation. At His arrest they fled from Him and even disowned Him, Peter denied Him completely thrice. Mark 14:33,37 He took Peter, James and John along with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled. Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. "Simon," he said to Peter, "are you asleep? Couldn’t you keep watch for one hour? Prayer shields you from temptation. Temptation is not test. God tests but doesn't tempt. He tested Abraham and many others in the Bible but tempt no one.  Temptation is a trap set by satan for one to fall into sin. Test is an assessment by God to...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 9th JUNE 2025 HE GIVES STRENGTH TO THE WEARY Isaiah 40:29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. (NIV) In this our Christian walk there is the need for continuous renewing of strength. We face challenges, oppositions and conflicts that tries to weaken us but God has made provision for renewing our strength. Our theme scripture Isaiah 40:29 says "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak."  That means there is the tendency to get weary, there is the tendency to be weak. God knows, so He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Never feel shy, inadequate or inferior when you feel weary or weak. It is only those journeying on the narrow way that gets weary or weak. Never think for once that something is wrong with you when you feel weak, weary or discouraged. It does happen, and God has made provision for your strengthening. Isaiah 40:30-31 Even yo...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 8th JUNE 2025 LOVE IS THE EVIDENCE 1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death. (NIV) When we say we have the life of God in us no one sees it. People don't see our hearts. The only evidence that we have passed from death to life, that we actually have the life and nature of God in us is love. Love is the evidence.  Many words cannot convince anyone that you have the life of God, the only way a tree is recognized is by its fruit. Love is the fruit of God's life and nature. If we say we have His life in us it should be seen in our demonstration of love. Anyone who does not love does not have the life of God in him or has refused to give expression to it. The Lord Jesus said people will know you are from Him if you love. It is not just a sign but a true expression of His life. John 13:35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, ...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 7th JUNE 2025 MOVE ON FROM THERE Genesis 26:22 He moved on from there and dug another well, and no one quarreled over it. He named it Rehoboth, saying, "Now the LORD has given us room and we will flourish in the land." (NIV) In life you have to learn to always move on. You have to learn how to move on from disappointment, failings, defeat, unfavorable circumstances and opposition. You will have to move on and move away from some oppositions and enemies. Not every time you give time to an enemy, not every fight you should fight. At times you move on and move away from the fight.  Isaac had oppositions regarding the wells his servants dug. His opposers quarreled with him about the wells. He could have fought them to retain the wells, after all it was his but he chose rather to move on from there. Genesis 26:19-21 Isaac’s servants dug in the valley and discovered a well of fresh water there. But the herders of Gerar quarrele...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 6th JUNE 2025 CHARACTER BEFORE CHARISMA Matthew 7:20-21 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. "Not everyone who says to me, ’Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. (NIV) Children of God are recognized first by Godly character than anything else. Every tree is recognized by its fruit. We as children of God are recognized by God's fruit of righteousness in our lives. When we express God's character people are quick to tell that we are of God.  But there are people who manifest the charisma of the Spirit and not give expression to His character. Charisma of the Spirit means working miracles, prophesying and working in power. Matthew 7:22-23 Many will say to me on that day, ’Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ’I never knew you. ...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 5th JUNE 2025 TRUE RIGHTEOUSNESS AND HOLINESS Ephesians 4:24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. (NIV) The new self which is the new creation is created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. The expression "true righteousness and holiness" suggests that there is a false righteousness and holiness. And indeed there is. What religious people call righteousness is not what God calls righteousness, and what they call holiness is not what God calls holiness.  Apostle Paul knew about this, and he chose not to have his own righteousness but God's righteousness.  Philippians 3:9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ —the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. True righteousness comes only from God and we receive it only through faith. Only God is righteous and...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 4th JUNE 2025 LOVE IS A LAW John 13:34-35 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." (NIV) In our previous article we learnt that faith is a law. Another law, which is actually the only other law for the Christian is love. The law of faith and the law of love is actually the only laws for the Christian. And these two laws are everything.  Love is a law. The Lord Jesus said so. He calls it a new command. John 13:34-35 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." Loving other people most especially believers is unnegotiable. It is a law. If we don't love we break the law. Every people has laws that governs them, without which no one could be held resp...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 3rd JUNE 2025 FAITH IS A LAW Romans 3:27 Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. Because of what law? The law that requires works? No, because of the law that requires faith. (NIV) Every country in the world has laws which legalize or legitimate actions, behavior and other dealings. Whatever anyone does within the ambit of a given law is legitimate. It is law that makes actions right or wrong.  The Christian being a new creature has two new laws that governs him; faith and love. Faith is a law. That means whenever you are operating by faith it is a legitimate operation.  Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has freed me from the law of sin and of death. (AMP) The law of our new being requires faith. Without which we cannot function or are not authorized to function. The new creation functions only by faith. Any operation (thought, words or actions) outside fai...

BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 2nd JUNE 2025 IT'S A HIGH NECESSITY Luke 18:1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; (NIV) The term Jesus used here "men ought always to pray" denote a necessity, a high necessity to pray. The term suggest that prayer goes beyond making request of God. It stressed that men ought to always pray whether or not they have something to pray about. That's so telling, because it means prayer is much more than asking from God. There are several reasons people pray. But there are reasons God asks us to pray. First and foremost, prayer is fellowship with God; it is a communion, relationship, union and harmony. Praying and talking with God is intimacy with Him. Another important reason is what it does in us. Prayer does more in us than for us. Prayer builds and develops our spiritual life than our physical.  And a third reason that we ought always to pray is that our pr...

(NIV) The word "Lord" means master, supreme and ruler. Jesus Christ is the Lord and Master of the universe, He is supreme and rules over all existence.  The Father has exalted Jesus Christ to the highest place and has given Him the Name that is above all names. At the mention of His Name everything and everyone submits to and acknowledge His Lordship.  He is not only Lord over all things by conferment but also as the Creator. Everything that was and is, was created by the Lord Jesus. He is Lord over all things. Colossians 1:16-17 for in him were all things created, in the heavens and upon the earth...
