Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account. (NIV) Apostle Paul speaking to the Philippian church acknowlegded the help they sent him more than once while in the course of the Gospel. He also made it clear that it was not so much about the gifts they sent him but that their heavenly account should be credited.  Every Christian has an account in heaven which is credited every time we give for the work of the Kingdom here on earth. Our giving are recorded in heaven, not just that they are written down but that they are deposited into our heavenly account. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. (NIV) Those of us who rely on and function by grace can testify like Apostle Paul, "But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them —yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me." 1 Corinthians 15:10.  We work hard yet not us, but the grace of God that is in us. No effort is enough for true success in life. Grace grace effort, favour favour labour. The men who succeeded in their walk with God and the assignment He gave them was by wisdom. (NIV) Every individual has one mind, no one got two. And the mind is very crucial and instrumental to one's success, joy, peace and prosperity in life. The mind could either be governed by the flesh or by the Spirit. The mind doesn't really function in isolation; it functions either by the flesh or the Spirit. The mind does not function without information. So it rely on the flesh or the Spirit for information to function by. When the flesh governs the mind and supplies it with information, the Bible says "it results in death." But if it is governed by the Spirit and receives information from the Spirit it produces life and peace. (NIV) Don't spend time blaming those who do not understand the message of the Gospel of Christ and our way of life. They cannot understand as long as they are not born again and do not have the Spirit of God. Our theme scripture says the things of God, of the Kingdom, of the Gospel are discerned only through the Spirit. Don't expect them to understand and accept if they don't have the Spirit of God.  It takes discernment by the Spirit to know the things of God. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. (NIV) Living in a world where evil and wrongs are practiced and tolerated don't be tempted to do to people what they do to you. Don't repay evil with evil or insult with insult. God has a reason, the Word says "...because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing."  You have inherited a blessing, bless and do not curse.  People will push you to the wall, to that extreme where your tolerance and patience is tried but don't yield or condescend to their level of insults and evil. (NIV) Jesus' victory on the cross and in hell was for man. Through Him God has given us the victory over sin, death, satan and the world. It is our responsibility to live in this victory. You have victory in Christ, live it.  It is ignorance to be expecting God to give us victory today over the devil or evil; He has already given us victory, and that victory reproduces itself in our lives as we walk in the truth of the Gospel. (NIV) Scriptures means written scripts. Or what is written. The Bible is written scripts. But who wrote it? Only the Bible can tell us who wrote the Bible, that's the truth. The Bible has outlived generations, ethnics, wars, oppositions and more. It is abundantly written in the Bible that God is the Author of the Bible. (KJV) There is no controversy in what this scripture just tellls us. When Jesus came to this world He was God in human flesh. People may argue that He was not God but everything about Him proved that He was God in the flesh.  His birth was supernatural, born by the virgin Mary. His life was supernatural; He lived life that was beyond human and spoke words that transcend the words of the wisest man that ever lived, He did things, miracles that baffled human comprehension. (NIV) The world does not know the truth, only the church does. Pilate while interrogating Jesus before His crucifixion asked Him, what is truth? John 18:38 "What is truth?" retorted Pilate. The world doesn't know the truth about the Gospel of Christ and its significance. Only the church knows. You would hear someone say "God where are you?" In other words, have you changed your position? God doesn't change His position when the position of your life change from good to seemingly bad. We have grace; sufficient grace. Irrespective of what it is, we have an adequate grace for it. That's a good news! (NIV) Mercy is you getting the good you do not deserve, and not getting the punishment or the consequences of your wrongs. When we work for something and get it, it's what we deserved or earned. But if we receive what we do not deserve or earn it is God's mercy. When He sent Moses to go to Egypt and bring out His people, the Israelites He went with him and worked with him. He still does that today; He goes with us and does the work with us.  When Joshua took over leadership from Moses God said to Him in Joshua 1:5 "No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you." For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body —whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free —and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. (NIV) To be baptized means to be immersed completely into liquid substance such that one is swallowed up completely in it. When the Bible says "we were all baptized by one Spirit" it means we were all immersed completely into Christ by one Spirit swallowed up Him to become one Body. Everyone of us who is born again has been baptized into the one body of Christ, we all are a part of His body.  It is important that we understand this truth and relate with it. When God's mind is spoken about your marriage, that is His prophecy about your marriage.  Some people often wonder why they received prophecy concerning their lives but it never came to pass.  The young man Timothy received prophecies concerning his life, Apostle Paul had to tell him what to do with the prophecies otherwise they would never come to pass. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. (NIV) How did the Lord forgive us? He forgave and forgot about it. True forgiveness is forgetting about the wrong done, that is, not allowing it to have effect on the offender. And that is pardon; releasing someone from the consequences of their wrongs. We are to forgive as the Lord forgave us, not keeping in our hearts the wrong done to us.  God forgave us and said "Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more." (NIV) God's Word never fails because it is God's Word. The definition of the Word of God in our opening verse implies a living being. It says "the Word of God is alive and active." Then you will be prosperous and successful. (NIV) Everyone of us wants to be successful in our various endeavours. We even pray to God that He makes us successful. Interestingly God wants our success more than we could ever desire. And He has a recommendation for us which leads to success.  Joshua took over leadership from Moses, challenged with the great task of leading the rebellious children of Israel. He knew he needed something extra; something more than the ordinary to succeed in his new leadership responsibility. And God told him what he required. God cannot do anything without His Word. If you want Him to do something for you find His word concerning it, and when you do hold on to it until you see the fulfilment.  The Israelites cried to the Lord in the midst of their trouble He saved them from their distress by sending His Word to heal and rescue them. (KJV) Often we pray to God to empower us to be successful and prosperous. When we start out a project we wish for success only. Then we work hard as much as we can to be successful. But God is more interested in our success and prosperity than we could ever be.  He is much more interested to see you succeed, prosperous and in health than you could ever wish or desire for yourself. There are people who tend to hide from God and also hide their pursuit from Him thinking that He might not be interested in what they do or grant them success. (NIV) Giving is spiritual; it is important you take note of this. Giving is a spiritual act prompted from one's spirit. Not everyone has the heart or ability to give; not everyone can give. The ability to give is not in one's abundance but the state of one's heart.  Apostle Paul talks about the Macedonia churches who gave more than their ability even in the midst of trial and extreme poverty.  2 Corinthians 8:2-3 In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Such a high priest truly meets our need —one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. (NIV) The Lord Jesus met our need of salvation; He saved us completely unlike the old testament high priests who would offer animals yearly to save the Israelites from their sins. Yet the annual sacrifice of animals were mere remembrance of their sins not removal. But Jesus removed our sins once and for all with the sacrifice of Himself.  The Lord Jesus indeed met our need of salvation and everything else (within salvation) because He always lives, He is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners and exalted above the heavens. He met our need for salvation, and He meets our needs today because He is still and forever our High Priest....

Even His disciples who ate with Him couldn't believe Him completely until they saw Him levitated into heaven. They were astonished, even their senses couldn't deny that Jesus actually came from above as He claimed. But what are we to gain for doing that? It's a good question to ask. Peter asked the Lord the same question. Matthew 19:27 Peter answered him, "We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?" Anyone in their right senses would want to know the reward they would get for giving up everything for something. BREAKFAST WITH JESUS A daily devotional Pastor Stanley 1st APRIL 2025 GIVE UP THINGS Mark 8:34-35 Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it. (NIV) If you are going to be fruitful and productive in the things of the Kingdom you will have to deliberately give up some things. There are things that could hinder you from advancing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And those things are mostly rooted in self, that's why the Lord Jesus said "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves..."  Self is the greatest opposition to walking in the Spirit and doing the things of the Kingdom.
